I introduce my favorite Japanese movie. The title is "Norwegian Wood" based on the novel by Haruki Murakami(村上春樹), the one of the most famous novelist in Japan or in the world. His books are translated into many languages, of course into English. It was also translated into Norwegian language. The theme song of the movie is "Norwegian Wood" sung by The Beatles. I want the around 20 years old people to read the book, because the book describes difficulties of twenty years old people or teens.
The novel was published in 1991 in Japan and after that it was published in other countries too so it has been read a lot of people, which means that the movie was made 20 years after the novel had been published. The history background of the novel is when s student movement to American military in Japan in 1969 and it is not affinity to young generation, but it has been read by wide generation people.
The story of the novel is that an university student, Watanabe, loved an girl whose name is Naoko. The love was so complicated and strained that they faced many troubles. The novel contains a sense of loss and a conflict of teenagers. The novel captures the essence of love, which is the reason why the novel is loved all around the world, I guess.
If you interested in love, I really want you to read the "Norwegian Wood".
